Bill Maher has repeatedly noted that “human beings are not good people.” This is especially true of those who believe they have the perfect plans for society. Totalitarian visionaries are particularly dangerous.
Western civilization and the American Constitution were built by those who recognized Maher’s statement as true. The American founders were steeped in the Hebrew scriptures, which are full of stories of human shortcomings. Even the heroes had serious faults. The founders designed a system to limit the damage leaders could do.
The “Age of Science and Reason” started about the time of Darwin’s work. Intellectuals believed that humans would eventually understand everything. The Greeks were wrong. There would eventually be nothing “beyond physics,” so “metaphysics” was a word for history.
Brilliant people could create perfect systems. Their approach was similar in Western governments with the rule of law. I’ll talk about the United Kingdom (UK). They were the most blatant; they left a written trail, and you know the names. You’ll also recognize the pattern.
In 1884, a group of London intellectuals formed the Fabian Society. George Bernard Shaw and H. G. Wells were long-term major participants in the group. Early on, they adopted a “wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing” logo.
They essentially became one of the UK’s major parties: the Labour Party. They openly celebrate the fact that every Labour Prime Minister has been a Fabian, and a major portion of the current party leadership is also Fabian.
A YouTube video, The Mysterious Order Running Britain for 140 Years, describes their strategy.
The work of the Fabian society is not the work of agitators. It is the work of people who understand that the most durable power is the power that does not look like power. To achieve this, they invented a strategy they called permeation
…
George Bernard Shaw wrote about it in 1892 … that the Fabians had permeated the party organizations … In 1908 he became even more explicit. He wrote that the Fabians had set themselves two distinct tasks. The first was to provide a ready-made parliamentary program for any prime minister who converted to socialism. The second was to make it as easy and natural and unremarkable for the ordinary respectable Englishman to be a socialist…
…
That second task is the subtler and more important one. Normalize the ideas. Embed them. Make them the default assumption. Make it so that the debate happens entirely within the framework the Fabians have constructed so that even people who think they’re arguing against socialist ideas are arguing within terms that the Fabians established.
This is what you encounter whenever you feel trapped in an argument. The boundaries are preset. Most people live within the framework built by the Fabians or their counterparts elsewhere. The consensus is set. The “Uniparties” buy the consensus. Slower or faster, they are headed in the same direction.
But what kind of people are setting the direction? I’ve mentioned George Bernard Shaw. His name probably brought a pleasant image to mind. He wrote Pygmalion, which was the basis for My Fair Lady. But if you examine his writings and those of the other Fabians, you will find they are not very nice at all. Their goals haven’t really changed.
They are Malthusian. They believe population grows faster than resources, especially food. Therefore, either births must be reduced, or deaths must be increased to avoid mass starvation. Obviously, the better people have to decide what kind of people can reproduce or must be eliminated so that only the appropriate people are left. The term is eugenics.
The same video talks about Shaw and eugenics:
In 1903, in the appendix to his play Man and Superman, he wrote that the only fundamental and possible socialism is the socialism of the selective breeding of man. In 1910, … [he] said a great many people would have to be put out of existence simply because it wastes other people’s time to look after them. … Then in 1938, he wrote a private letter to Beatrice Webb in which he argued that they ought to tackle what he called the Jewish question by admitting the right of the state to make eugenic experiments by weeding out any strains they think undesirable.
And if you think it doesn’t matter today:
The eugenic Society incidentally did not fold when the idea became publicly unspeakable. It went through a series of name changes. … It also became the voluntary euthanasia society and in 2006 the voluntary euthanasia society rebranded itself as dignity and dying which continues to operate in Britain today. The names change. The institutional thread connecting them does not.
Canada has perfected this. Their “free” national health system has delays even for serious progressive diseases like cancer. But you can quickly get an appointment for Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID). There are reported abuses where older, easily confused people are talked into this when they don’t really understand what they are agreeing to.
Another glaring issue repeatedly occurs when the Fabians and their allies promote Communist governments and ignore and lie about the abuses of those regimes.
The Holodomor, the deliberate starvation of Ukraine as a consequence of Soviet agricultural policy, killed an estimated 3 and a half to 5 million people. Shaw signed the letter denying it while Welsh journalist Gareth Jones was risking his career and his safety to report it.
In the UK, the US, the Eurozone, and Canada, these people think they are smarter than you are. They have created huge deficits everywhere. The social welfare states they promised are falling apart. They had a clear path to ample food and energy for everyone and refused it.
Riots are breaking out in many countries, and rumors say they are being planned elsewhere. Reportedly, some of these geniuses think riots will let them tear down representative governments.
The “wolves-in-sheep’s-clothing” are fashionable. It’s comfortable to go along with them. But they are not good people and don’t have your best interests at heart. Wolves are always wolves.
